“The kids were married, and the house, once full of blessed noise and chaos, was empty. My eldest daughter encouraged me to get out of the house, meet people, and do something.”
Julie Devora Brown is a petite ball of energy. It’s hard to imagine her sitting still for long.
And sure enough, she starts listing different therapeutic modalities she’s learned over the years.
“Back in 2007, my husband and I stumbled upon EFT — emotional freedom technique also known as ‘tapping’ — and we were amazed at its impact. We both became certified EFT practitioners.
“Then, in 2016, after my daughter had become a kallah teacher and said, ‘Ma, this is perfect for you!’ I took several courses and became a kallah teacher.
“Recently, I learned 3-D, Dimensions therapy — an alternative healing modality. Similar to EFT, the therapy centers on the meridians, the energy pathways that run through the body. If we’re sick or stuck emotionally, it’s usually because there’s a blockage within these meridians.
“These obstructions can be on any of three levels: thoughts, emotions, or body sensations. By clearing these blockages, you can facilitate positive movement and change.”
A year ago, Julie Devorah had a steady trickle of kallahs and clients. “It was fine, but it wasn’t a business,” she admits.
She had taken a marketing course a while back, but it was in Hebrew, and the language proved to be a barrier.
Then she heard that Leora Gruen was running Temech networking groups in her city. She knew Leora personally, was impressed by her integrity and humility, and was eager to learn from her.
It was an excellent experience.
“Temech helped me realize that I could succeed in business; watching others grow fueled that belief. We were in different places – some just starting out and others in business for years – but we each learned from each other and celebrated each other’s wins.
“We also davened for each other; the month we did that, something shifted for me.”
Julie Devora particularly appreciated learning how to craft her elevator pitch. “We practiced it in so many ways until I was able to present my services comfortably and professionally.
“And the educational videos were eye-opening. One speaker showed us how to move from the homegrown stage and become professional. It helped me break past my small mindset and gave me the guts to expand.
The monthly goal-setting was another game-changer. “It pushed me out of my cocoon and helped me keep moving forward. The groups offered knowledge, spirituality, social connection, and accountability.”
Julie Devorah expanded and grew her email list — the foundation for future potential income.
“I don’t have a thriving business yet,” she says, “but Temech helped me break barriers, and I’m more firmly on a path towards success.”
